Fall 2019 Events

Every year the G.o.A.L. program hosts an annual three day Leadership Retreat, where 50 selected members can develop a deeper bond amongst themselves, while learning to exemplify leadership qualities in all aspects of their lives. Moreover, the Leadership Retreat (at Asilomar) provides an opportunity to bring underrepresented minority students together in a context that allows them to participate in hands-on training and development to become leaders. It focuses on building community, campus wide. This retreat permits students to step away from their daily responsibilities to be around the right people, at the right place, at the right time to participate in a variety of leadership workshops. Students are encouraged to start building a supportive and collegial community by sharing openly and honestly about their educational challenges and career aspirations. They discover what it takes to support each other and identify solutions to strengthen their opportunities to succeed in life. By the end of the retreat, participants assume the role of emerging leaders in the G.o.A.L. program. Based on the data collected, the results of the retreat has led to improved grades and career opportunities for students.

In order to be eligible for the Leadership Retreat your must have attended at least one workshop in the Fall.
